RHD Vehicles for Postal Workers

We have had many Rural and Suburban Mail Carriers (RSMCs) import a JDM vehicle for their postal route. Getting a car from Japan is one of the cheapest and easiest ways to get in a RHD vehicle.

Vehicles from Japan are ideal as they are a RHD country, with cars that have low mileage and are in great shape. This is because In Japan there are mandatory inspections called “shaken” to keep used vehicles on the road; it is a small island with a large car culture; it has an established efficient method for exporting vehicles; and a relatively mild climate.

Our advice for purchasing a RHD vehicle for RSMC use, would be to choose something that has a north-american equivalent, to make servicing at your local mechanic easier. Depending on your location, the environment or workload might demand various features like all-wheel drive, sliding doors, swinging tailgates, rear-mounted spare tires, taller or longer cargo areas, or powered features like the sliding doors or tailgates.

Different engine options could also be available, with basic naturally-aspirated engines, to more powerful turbocharged units, larger displacement options if loads are often heavy, and even diesel engines.
